Second phase of Mingdao Aluminum’s 36.57MW rooftop solar project put into operation

The second phase of Mingdao Aluminum Taizhou Base's rooftop solar project was recently finished and formally implemented. It will offer the manufacturing industry a constant source of clean energy, ushering in a new era of green energy promotion for the firm. It is a dramatic depiction of the company's actual application of the notion of green development.

The solar modules installed on the rooftop of the company's building exhibit a continuous arrangement, like the vast expanse of a blue ocean. The total area covered by these modules exceeds 350,000 square metres, equivalent to the size of 49 football fields according to international standards.

The photovoltaic power generation project, jointly built by State Grid Taizhou Power Supply Company Hongchuang Group and the municipal state-owned joint venture Guohong Company, is Zhejiang Province's largest single roof photovoltaic project, with a total investment of 160 million yuan and an installed capacity of 36.57 megawatts.

It is estimated to produce 35.24 million kilowatt hours of power per year once completed. The project began building in November 2022 and is split into two phases, the first operating at 19.79 megawatts. It went up at the end of December of last year. Approximately 13.6 million kilowatt hours of power have been produced as of now.

The project uses a "spontaneous self-use and surplus electricity grid connection" paradigm, prioritising business electricity usage and integrating excess electricity into the public power grid, which plays a significant role in adjusting and optimising regional energy structure. With a 25-year cycle, total power output is estimated to reach 88.111 million kilowatt hours once all projects are operational. Compared to thermal power production, it can save 324400 tonnes of standard coal, 986200 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, 29700 tonnes of sulphur dioxide emissions, and 14800 tonnes of nitrogen oxide emissions. The economic and environmental advantages are substantial.

According to reports, the company intends to make full use of park parking spaces, idle spaces, and other resources, as well as to construct approximately 3 megawatt shed photovoltaic power generation projects and 18.6 megawatt-hour energy storage power station projects, thereby promoting the integrated development of green energy and green manufacturing.

In addition to employing green energy to power production, the firm aggressively pursues green and low-carbon growth options across the industrial chain. It has established an annual production capacity of 200000 tonnes of recycled aluminium base in Ningxia, further improving the industrial chain layout, leveraging the benefits of recycled aluminium in resource conservation, energy conservation, and environmental protection, significantly reducing carbon emissions, and achieving green circular development.
