aluminium expo|The new high-strength and high-conductivity and heat-resistant aluminum alloy material has been successfully prepared

Kunming university of science and technology in cooperation with Beijing university of aeronautics and astronautics, studying high strength high heat resistance aluminum alloy, prepared strength, conductivity and heat resistance of good matching aluminum-zirconium-scandium alloy wire, in green aluminum, titanium industry and advanced manufacturing has achieved a new breakthrough.

High-strength, high-conductivity and heat-resistant aluminium alloy is a key basic material for overhead transmission line cables. Studies have shown that achieving synergistic enhancement of strength, conductivity and heat resistance of aluminium-zirconium-scandium alloys will have broad application prospects. And elucidating the effects of processing paths on the microstructure and properties of the alloys is crucial for improving their performance.

The team of Zhenhua Lai from Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST) and the team of Zhaoli Ma and Wenlong Xiao from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA) carried out a collaborative study to obtain a quantitative relationship between the effects of various process steps of the machining path on the organisation, strength and electrical conductivity of Al-Zr-Sc alloys. The results show that high strength and high conductivity heat-resistant aluminium-zirconium-scandium alloy wires can be obtained through the rapid solidification-thermal deformation-ageing-cold drawing path, taking full advantage of fine grain strengthening, precipitation strengthening, dislocation strengthening and dynamic precipitation of scandium atoms during thermal deformation. Scandium-zirconium alloy wires.

According to aluminium expo, the research team conducted pilot tests at Yunnan Aluminium Zexin Company and Kunming Cable Co. They successfully prepared tens of thousands of metres of high-strength, high-conductivity, heat-resistant aluminium alloy wire, and passed the third-party authoritative testing. Its electrical conductivity of 61.1%, tensile strength of 161 MPa, elongation of 5.6%, 280 ℃ heat preservation after 1 hour strength retention rate of 96%. The finished cable prepared in combination with this wire provides support for further enhancing the deep processing capability of China's green aluminium industry. The relevant results were published in the academic journal Materials Science and Technology.
