aluminium exhibition | Aluminum Production Expected to Exceed 100 Million Tons by 2027

As a crucial segment of the aluminum industry chain, aluminum processing includes deformation processing and casting.

According to the aluminium exhibition, the aluminum processing industry's overview for July 2023 is as follows: China's aluminum material output was 5.284 million tons, marking a 2.2% increase year-over-year; aluminum alloy production reached 1.218 million tons, up 7.1%; and electrolytic aluminum production was 3.481 million tons, a 1.5% increase.

Regarding the geographical distribution of China's aluminum processing industry, Shandong Province has the highest number of enterprises, followed by a significant presence in the eastern region and fewer in the western region. The eastern region's numerous ports facilitate exports, and its developed downstream markets and convenient transportation help reduce transportation costs and form industrial clusters. Henan and Zhejiang have the highest number of leading enterprises, with other significant provinces including Shandong, Guangdong, and Zhejiang.

Despite increasing environmental pressures and low-carbon requirements, the "14th Five-Year Plan" period sees a surge in the new energy vehicle industry's sales and shortened iteration cycles in the electronics consumer products industry due to continuous innovations in 5G and chip technology, leading to a significant rise in demand for aluminum processed products. Aluminum production is expected to surpass 100 million tons by 2027.

In the future, China's aluminum processing industry may undergo industrial upgrading and relocation. The core of this upgrade should be a change in the development mode to ensure sustainable industrial growth. This entails capacity adjustment, rational industrial layout, product structure modification, and adopting suitable technological routes, all aimed at promoting the optimization and upgrade of the industry structure.
