aluminium show |Fusina Starts Procuring 100% Low-Carbon Primary Aluminum for Its Tailor-Made Industrial Products

Niche Fusina Rolling Products (Fusina), a leading aluminum rolling mill, is procuring 100% of its primary aluminum from low-carbon suppliers through Concord Resources Company. The accurate carbon footprint is provided by CarbonChain. This method of sourcing materials reduces the overall carbon footprint of Fusina's customized coils, sheets, and plates in Italy, thereby offering a broader range of low-carbon products to its clients, mainly industrial manufacturers. Prior to this, Fusina had recently launched a Carbon Transparency Program, which provides a product carbon footprint report to every customer in all markets and to potential buyers upon request.

Fusina has already offered a range of low-carbon aluminum products. While the industry average ranges from 3-20 tons of CO2 equivalent per ton of aluminum, some of Fusina's products have a carbon intensity as low as 3-4 tons of CO2 equivalent per ton. On average, 30% of Fusina's input aluminum is primary aluminum. The rest is recycled aluminum, also known as secondary aluminum.

According to data from the aluminium show, this new commitment ensures that Fusina's primary aluminum supply is 100% below the carbon intensity threshold of 6 tons of CO2 equivalent per ton of aluminum, and as far below this threshold as possible. In contrast, the global average emission for primary aluminum is 16.1 tons of CO2 equivalent per ton. This commitment, along with emissions reduction in Fusina's own production process, will significantly reduce the average carbon footprint of Fusina's products, which can be tracked and reported to clients and potential buyers.

Adam Hearne, CEO of CarbonChain, stated: "Every participant in the metal value chain can play a role in the transition to net-zero emissions. From production to procurement, every decision counts. Fusina has demonstrated the manufacturing industry's demand for low-carbon products and can accurately complete carbon reporting for the supply chain. With the new ISSB standards, the EU CBAM, and Scope 3 reporting regulations, we hope other industry leaders will follow this path."
