Aluminium Show | Chinalco Guinea Achieves Its Best Production Performance in the First Quarter Since Inception

As the first independently operated overseas ten-million-ton bauxite base of Chinalco Group, Chinalco Guinea is implementing the strategy of becoming a "super-strong mineral resource," as set by Chinalco Group. The company is firmly establishing a stable and sustainable strategic position as an "aluminum granary." It is actively engaging in the special campaign of "promoting integrity and discipline, fostering new customs, and achieving exceptional management to create strengths." By further carrying out process optimization, capacity enhancement, and compliance management, the company is enhancing its production and mining capabilities and overall core competitiveness. In the first quarter, Chinalco Guinea’s ore production and ore shipment volume increased by 42% and 14% year-on-year, respectively, achieving the best performance since the commencement of the Boke project in Guinea.

Chinalco Guinea promptly adapts to changes in geological conditions at the mining sites. After clearing the topsoil at each mining site, technical staff immediately conduct assays on the exposed ores and clearly mark the changes in ore quality in each area. In areas with high-quality ore stripping, Chinalco Guinea organizes direct mining operations, which not only reduces the amount of overburden generated but also improves resource utilization. In the first quarter, based on scientific analysis and precise management, Chinalco Guinea directly mined the cleared sites at three fields, increasing ore production by over 200,000 tons.

According to Aluminium Expo, the Boke project in Guinea has always employed a traditional "mine-and-transport" production method. However, as mining operations continue, the distances between mining sites increase, leading to significantly more time needed to operate equipment and thus a decrease in equipment efficiency. To address this, Chinalco Guinea’s technical team, despite challenges such as hot weather and staff shortages, has gradually shifted from the "mine-and-transport" method to a "four-cutter joint mining and centralized transportation" method after experimentation and continuous improvement. This adjustment in mining operations has significantly reduced the transit times for various equipment at the mining sites and increased the overall equipment efficiency by more than 30%.

Chinalco Guinea will further implement the overseas strategy of Chinalco Group and Chinalco Ltd., focusing on building a "new Chinalco" with exceptionally strong resources. Aiming at current production and long-term supply goals, the company is actively developing new productive forces to contribute to Chinalco Group's mission of building a world-class leading non-ferrous metal group.
