Chinalco Southwest Aluminum has signed a contract with SMS group for the supply of a new 1+4 aluminium hot-strip mill.
The mill will be a key processing line in a new plant located near the existing site in Xipeng, China.

The supply from SMS includes an rough mill with an edger mill, and a four-stand finishing mill featuring Continuously Variable Crown plus technology.
The hot rolling mill will be designed to produce 770kt of aluminium hot strip and enable Southwest Aluminum to increase their portfolio of products from 2028 onwards.
